Recent advances in science and technology offer the prospect of further improvements in quality of climate information and prediction services, a senior Kenyan government official has said.
“Extreme environmental events can have a catastrophic impact on society, and they are of particular concern,” Geoffrey Wahungu, director-general of the National Management Authority, said.
Professor Wahungu said events such as tropical cyclones, floods, drought and cold spells have the potential to cause enormous destruction and loss of life.
